Arlington, Tex. - All around North Texas, the products of GM's Arlington Assembly Plant are ferrying special guests arriving for Super Bowl XLV on Feb. 6.
Leadership from the United Auto Workers and GM on Thursday celebrated the use of 450 Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac full-size SUVs produced at the plant by UAW Local 276.
"The Arlington Community has worked very hard to be a good host to visitors from around the world attending the game," plant manager Paul Graham said. "We are delighted to play a small part in that effort through our plant open house next week and by making the high-quality vehicles used as courtesy transportation for the NFL."
Said Belinda Langley, Local 276 shop chairperson: "UAW Local 276 not only builds some of the finest full-size SUVs in the world, but our membership is active in our community. We can't wait to show visitors all we do to ensure they get a top-quality product from our plant."
Arlington Assembly will get that opportunity Monday through Thursday of Super Bowl Week when it becomes the first of 54 GM facilities nationwide to host public tours as a way to thank communities for supporting the company. The majority of the plant open houses will take place in the spring and summer of 2011.
